Senator Moro Raises Alarm Over Beheading in Benue South

Abba Moro, the senator representing Benue South, addressed the Senate regarding the alarming security situation in his constituency following the beheading of Ujema Emi, a public health worker. Emi was reportedly ambushed and killed at Ubub junction along the Ikobi-Ulegapa road.

Moro described the area as a flashpoint for frequent attacks by suspected armed herders, warning that the situation had deteriorated beyond the capacity of local security structures. He accused the Benue State government of indifference to the plight of the people and highlighted the inadequacies of local security arrangements, which he claimed were underfunded and outgunned.

Moro also protested the arrest of Olochi Asaila, a youth leader coordinating community resistance against armed marauders, arguing that such detentions leave communities vulnerable. Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed condolences to the family of the slain worker and indicated that the matter would be referred to the Senate's security committee for further action.
