Armed Herders Kill and Behead Resident in Benue State

In Ikobi, Apa Local Government Area, Benue State, a patent medicine seller was killed and beheaded by suspected armed herders. The incident occurred on Monday when the victim, identified as Sam, was ambushed at Ugbobi Junction while returning from Ugbokpo, where he had gone to gather medicine stock.

Local government chairman Adam Ochega confirmed the attack, stating that the assailants cut off the victim's head and took it away. The Benue State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Udem Edet, reported that she had not yet received information regarding the incident.

This attack is part of a troubling trend, as at least four people were reportedly killed in a similar manner in Ankpa village, Edikwu District, earlier in April, attributed to armed herders. The ongoing violence in the region continues to instill fear among residents.
