On Saturday, Nigeria's Flying Eagles faced a significant defeat against Burkina Faso, losing 4-1 in the final of the 2026 WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship held at the Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast. The Nigerian team, coached by Abdu Maikaba, attempted a comeback in the second half, with forward Muiz Adeleke converting a penalty to reduce the deficit to 3-1. However, Burkina Faso's solid defensive structure thwarted Nigeria's efforts to equalize, and they sealed the victory with a fourth goal late in the match.

This defeat marked the second time Burkina Faso had bested Nigeria in the tournament, having previously won their group-stage encounter. Burkina Faso's triumph earned them the regional trophy and a spot alongside hosts Ghana at the upcoming Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
