Bichi Lawmaker Abubakar Launches New Scholarship Batch

On October 5, 2026, Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, the member representing Bichi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, welcomed 21 beneficiaries of his foreign scholarship programme who returned after completing their Master’s degrees abroad. He also flagged off the second batch of the programme, which includes 38 students set to travel abroad for their Master’s degrees.

The event occurred at the Hagagawa Mini Stadium in Bichi, Kano State. The returning scholars studied courses in science and technology, such as Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and Information Technology, with six securing employment with the Federal Government.

Abubakar stated that the scholarship programme aims to address educational gaps and contribute to human capital development, supporting initiatives by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. Dr Ado Abdu Bichi, Secretary of the Foreign Scholarship Committee, noted that beneficiaries were selected based on merit.
