Nigeria's National Power Grid Collapses, Causing Nationwide Blackout

The collapse of Nigeria's national power grid in 2026 led to a widespread blackout, affecting cities like Abuja and Lagos. The incident, attributed to a system failure, resulted in a complete shutdown of electricity supply, impacting homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure.

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) and Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) are working to restore power supply. Various electricity distribution companies (Discos) such as Abuja Disco, Ikeja Disco, Benin Disco, and Yola Disco reported outages and efforts to restore electricity in their respective areas.
