Tanker Fire Causes Power Outage in Lagos Communities

A fire outbreak caused by a vehicle colliding with a stationary gas tanker along the Lekki-Epe Expressway resulted in a power outage affecting parts of Lagos. The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) confirmed that the incident occurred last night and attributed the disruption to the accident, which severely damaged the Ibeju Medallion 33kV feeder.

This damage included essential conductors and overhead line components, leading to the cut-off of power supply to multiple communities. EKEDC's technical team is currently working to replace the affected components and restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

The areas affected include communities served by the Medallion feeder, such as Sangotedo, Majek, Fidiso, Awoyaya, Eputu, Lagasa, Losoro, Kajola, and Onisan. The company has apologized for the inconvenience and advised residents to remain cautious while repair efforts continue.
