EKEDC Reports Power Outage Due to Fire Incident in Lagos

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) announced an ongoing effort to restore power supply in parts of Lagos following a major outage caused by a fire incident along the Lekki-Epe Expressway. The incident occurred due to a vehicle collision involving a stationary gas tanker, which resulted in significant damage to the Ibeju Medallion 33kV feeder, including critical conductor overhead line equipment.

In a statement released on Saturday, EKEDC explained that the unexpected incident disrupted power supply and affected several areas. The technical team is diligently working to replace damaged components and restore power supply as quickly and safely as possible.

The company expressed sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by this unforeseen incident. Affected areas include Medallion feeder, Sangotedo, Majek, Fidiso, Awoyaya, Eputu, Lagasa, Losoro, Kajola, and Onisan.

This outage follows a tragic gas explosion in Ajah, Lagos, which claimed two lives and destroyed several properties, including a warehouse and roadside shop.
