Bandits Kill 32 Farmers, Abduct Others in Niger Attacks

On February 14, 2026, a series of attacks by bandits in Niger State resulted in the deaths of at least 32 farmers and the abduction of several others. The first attack occurred in Tunga Makeri, Borgu Local Government Area, around 3:00 AM, where six individuals were killed, and community houses were set ablaze.

Later, at approximately 6:00 AM, the bandits invaded Konsoko Pissa, leading to the reported deaths of 26 more people and the destruction of several buildings, including a police outpost. Hassan Abdullahi, a resident of the area, informed journalists that the attacks involved around 200 operatives and lasted several hours, affecting locations about 200 kilometers from the Nigerian Air Force Base in New Bussa.

Wasiu Abiodun, spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, confirmed the attacks and the number of casualties, stating that the exact number of abducted individuals remains unspecified. A joint security team has been mobilized to the scene to assess the situation and rescue victims.
