Bandits Kill 32 Farmers in Niger, Abduct Many Others

On Saturday, February 14, 2026, bandits launched a series of attacks in Niger, resulting in the deaths of 32 farmers and the abduction of an unspecified number of individuals. The first assault occurred in Tunga Makeri, Konkoso ward, at approximately 3:00 AM, where six people were killed.

The bandits later invaded Konkoso and Pissa around 6:00 AM, engaging in sporadic gunfire that led to the reported deaths of 26 additional individuals. Numerous buildings, including a police outpost, were set ablaze during the attacks, which lasted from 6:00 AM until 10:00 AM and affected communities located 200 kilometers from the Nigerian Air Force Base in New Bussa.

Hassan Abdullahi, a resident, informed Daily Trust about the attacks, while Wasiu Abiodun, spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, confirmed the incidents and the destruction of houses. A joint security team has been mobilized to the scene to assess the situation and rescue victims.
