Eder Militao to Miss 2026 World Cup Due to Injury

Eder Militao, a 28-year-old defender for Real Madrid, will miss the 2026 World Cup due to a hamstring injury, as confirmed by the club. Militao sustained this injury during Real Madrid's 2-1 victory over Alavés on April 21.

This injury is a recurrence of a previous issue he faced in December against Celta Vigo, which required four months of recovery. Throughout the current season, Militao has struggled with injuries, featuring in only 16 La Liga games and starting 14 across the last three seasons, totaling just 38 top-flight appearances.

He previously participated in the 2022 World Cup, where Brazil was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Croatia, making four appearances in the tournament. Militao's absence will be a significant blow to both the Brazilian national team and Real Madrid, as he will not be able to assist Carlo Ancelotti's side during this time.
