Dybala Out for Six Weeks Due to Knee Injury

AS Roma's striker Paulo Dybala has been ruled out for six weeks due to a complete longitudinal tear of the external meniscus in his knee, according to reports from Italian media outlets including La Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Sport Italia. Dybala underwent surgery in Rome on Friday after experiencing muscle fatigue during a training session on Thursday.

As a result of this injury, he is expected to miss seven Serie A matches and the Europa League Round of 16 tie against fellow Italian club Bologna. Dybala, who is 32 years old and a 2022 World Cup winner, had his return to the bench against Juventus on March 1 cut short, where he was an unused substitute in a 3-3 draw.

His absence is significant as he had lost his undisputed starting position late last season, scoring two goals in 17 Serie A appearances. Roma currently sits fourth in Serie A, 16 points behind leaders Inter Milan and two points behind Napoli, with three points ahead of fifth-place Como.
