Boko Haram Attacks Borno, Vows to Establish Caliphate

Boko Haram has publicly claimed responsibility for a violent attack in Borno, occurring on Wednesday night, during which they killed soldiers and civilians, and abducted hundreds of residents. The group, represented by Imam Ubu Umaima, stated their intention to turn the town of Ngosh into a caliphate, renaming it "Daular Islam." They expressed gratitude to Allah for their success in the attack, which included the beheading of soldiers and the burning of military equipment.

The group announced that they would conduct Eid el Fitr prayers in Ngosh and continue their campaign to reclaim territory, threatening to extend their fight towards Maiduguri and Abuja. The attack resulted in significant casualties, including the deaths of a chief imam and several elders, and the destruction of homes and military bases.

Boko Haram's declaration marks a continued escalation of violence in the region.
