Boko Haram Victim Sentenced to Nine Years in Prison

On Thursday, the Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced Ali Kolo, a 37-year-old victim of Boko Haram, to nine years in prison after he had spent ten years in detention. Kolo was shot in the right leg by Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State and was found guilty of failing to report terrorist activities.

Justice Peter Lifu presided over the case, where Kolo was charged with four counts, including the concealment of information regarding the activities of a terrorist group. The prosecution, led by Mr.

David Kasw from the Federal Government, argued that Kolo had failed to convey information to military and security agencies as required under the Terrorism Prevention Prohibition Act of 2013. Kolo pleaded guilty to one count, and the court admitted two exhibits against him.

Consequently, Justice Lifu imposed a ten-year jail term based on Kolo's guilty plea and his confession during military investigations.
