Bolt Denies Compensation for Nigerian Driver's Death

Bolt South Africa has refused to compensate the family of Isaac Satlat, a 22-year-old Nigerian driver who was reportedly murdered during a trip last week. The incident involved two passengers and was captured on dash cam, leading to the arrest and arraignment of four suspects.

Bolt expressed condolences to the family and condemned the killing while cooperating with police in the ongoing investigation. The company stated that Satlat was not registered on their platform and was allegedly using a profile of another driver, Wiseman Makob, which is against their safety policies.

As a result, Satlat was deemed ineligible for compensation, which typically covers serious injuries, disabilities, and medical expenses for drivers operating lawfully. The family has initiated a fundraising campaign to support the repatriation of Satlat's body, with expenses exceeding R70,000 and a target of R72,000 raised from 250 donors.
