117 Repentant Terrorists Complete Rehabilitation in Borno

A total of 117 repentant terrorists have successfully completed the Nigerian government's de-radicalization, rehabilitation, and reintegration program, known as the Operation Safe Corridor (OSC), in Borno State. This announcement was made during a high-level stakeholder meeting at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja.

Samaila Uba, the Director of Defence Information, and Ali, the OSC Coordinator, highlighted the program's collaborative efforts between federal and state authorities to monitor and facilitate the reintegration of these individuals into their communities. The OSC, which began in 2016, has evolved to strengthen screening mechanisms, refine the ideological disengagement process, and enhance psychosocial support.

The program has also expanded to include camps in northwestern states, such as Zamfara, established last year. Chief of Defence Staff Olufemi Oluyed emphasized that the program is a key component of Nigeria's security strategy, aimed at stabilizing the region and preventing former insurgents from returning to violence.
