ADC Members Protest Against Substitution of Candidate

On Wednesday, members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State protested in Yola against what they termed an attempt to replace their governorship candidate, Ambassador Engineer Omar Suleiman, also known as Omarana, ahead of the 2027 governorship election. The protest involved party supporters, youths, and grassroots mobilisers who marched through major roads, carrying placards and chanting songs in support of Suleiman.

They asserted that he is the validly elected flagbearer and should not be substituted. The demonstrators called for respect for internal democracy and warned that any changes could create tension and undermine confidence in the party's internal structures.

They urged the ADC's national leadership, INEC, and security agencies to monitor developments and uphold democratic procedures. Earlier, concerns arose over reports suggesting businessman Abdulrahman Haske was being considered as a replacement for Suleiman, prompting strong reactions from his supporters.

ADC stakeholders have assured that no official decision has been made regarding the candidate's replacement.
