ADC Protest in Adamawa Over Guber Candidate Substitution

On Wednesday, members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State protested in Yola against the alleged attempt to replace their governorship candidate, Ambassador Engineer Omar Suleiman, known as Omarana, ahead of the 2027 governorship election. The demonstrators, including party supporters, youths, and grassroots mobilizers, marched through major roads carrying placards and chanting songs in support of Suleiman.

They insisted that he remained the validly elected flagbearer and should not be substituted. The protesters called for respect for internal democracy and warned that any changes could create tension and undermine confidence in the party's structures.

They urged the ADC's national leadership, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies to monitor developments and uphold democratic procedures. Earlier, concerns arose over reports that businessman Abdulrahman Haske was being considered as a replacement for Suleiman, which was met with strong opposition from Suleiman's supporters.

ADC stakeholders assured that no official decision had been made regarding the candidate's replacement.
