BREAKING: APC, PDP Declared Terrorist Organizations in Landmark Canadian Court Judgment

In a groundbreaking ruling, the Canadian Federal Court has declared Nigeria's two major political parties, the Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as terrorist organizations. The judgment, delivered on June 17, 2025, by Justice Phuong Ngo, upheld an earlier decision by the Canada Immigration Appeal Division (IAD) that found former party member Douglas Egharevba inadmissible under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) for belonging to a group linked to terrorism and subversion of democracy.

The court cited evidence of political violence, election rigging, and voter intimidation by senior leaders of both parties. Despite Egharevba's insistence on his personal record of wrongdoing, the court ruled that membership during a violent period was enough to justify inadmissibility.
