Sanwo-Olu Endorses Deputy Hamzat for 2027 Election

On Monday, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu officially endorsed his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, as his preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election. This endorsement took place during a closed-door meeting at the Lagos House Marina, attended by members of the State Executive Council and party leaders, including former Minister of State for Defence Musiliu Obanikoro and former Senator Ganiyu Solomon.

The decision to support Hamzat was reached unanimously among stakeholders present at the meeting. Sanwo-Olu highlighted Hamzat's experience and competence, noting their close working relationship over the years.

He emphasized that Hamzat is well-prepared to lead the state and has built significant political influence, particularly with President Bola Tinubu. Hamzat has previously served as a commissioner for infrastructure and has been the deputy governor for two terms, showcasing his qualifications for the governorship position.
