Sanwo-Olu Endorses Hamzat for Lagos Governorship 2027

On a recent Monday, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu formally endorsed his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, as his preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election. This endorsement occurred during a closed-door meeting at the Lagos House in Marina, where Hamzat declared his intent to contest.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized Hamzat's capabilities and experience, expressing confidence in his leadership abilities for the state. The governor highlighted their working relationship over the past seven years and commended Hamzat's dedication and character.

Sanwo-Olu's decision followed consultations with party leaders and stakeholders, including prominent figures such as Mudashiru Obasa and Femi Gbajabiamila. The endorsement is seen as a strategic move to solidify support for Hamzat within the All Progressives Congress.

Meanwhile, Obasa has reportedly initiated his own governorship ambitions, aiming to contest for a House of Representatives seat in the Agege Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
