Atiku Abubakar Visits Amaechi After ADC Primary Victory

On Thursday, Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, visited former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi at his Abuja residence after the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary. Atiku was accompanied by former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal and former ADC National Chairman Ralph Nwosu.

Atiku emerged as the ADC's presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, receiving 1,846,370 votes, while Amaechi secured 504,117 votes, and Moham Hayatu Deen received 177,120 votes. The results were announced on Wednesday night at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, with the ADC leadership, led by former Senate President David Mark, presenting the party flag to Atiku.

The ADC adopted a direct primary method, and three aspirants declined to call for a consensus arrangement. Atiku appealed to aggrieved members to unite behind the party, emphasizing that the outcome of the primary should not divide the party.

However, both Amaechi and Hayatu Deen reportedly rejected the primary results, alleging irregularities in the voting process.
