BREAKING: Benue Assembly Speaker Aondona Dajoh Resigns

Benue State House Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon Aondona Dajoh, has officially resigned from his position, as confirmed in a letter addressed to the Clerk of the Assembly on August 24, 2025. In the resignation letter, Dajoh cited acting in good faith and in the best interest of the Assembly as his reasons for stepping down.

He expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their support during his tenure and pledged to remain committed to his legislative duties as the representative of Gwer West State Constituency. The resignation comes amidst heightened political tension within the Assembly, with reports of a plot to impeach the Speaker leading to the suspension of four members.

Governor Hyacinth Alia has denied any involvement in the alleged impeachment plan. Dajoh took to Facebook to share a copy of his resignation letter, signaling the end of his leadership role in the House.
