BREAKING: Benue State Assembly Speaker Resigns

Benue State House Assembly Speaker, Aondona Dajoh, has resigned from his position in a letter dated August 24, 2025, citing the decision as being in the best interest of the state. Dajoh expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Speaker and pledged to continue his duties as a legislator representing Gboko West State Constituency.

The resignation comes after the Assembly suspended four members for six months over an alleged plot to impeach Dajoh. The suspension was deemed necessary to prevent a crisis within the legislature, according to Majority Leader Saater Tiseer.

Governor Hyacinth Alia had distanced himself from the alleged plot, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law and the principle of the separation of powers.
