CAF Awards AFCON 2025 Title to Morocco After Ruling

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) appeal board has officially awarded the AFCON 2025 title to Morocco, ruling that the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football forfeited the final match, resulting in a 3-0 victory for Morocco. This decision came after Morocco lodged a formal protest against Senegal's actions during the final, which were found to breach Articles 82 and 84 of the competition regulations.

The appeal board concluded that the conduct of the Senegalese federation was valid, thus confirming Morocco as the champion. Additionally, Moroccan international Ismaël Saibari was found guilty of misconduct, receiving a reduced sanction of a two-match suspension and a fine of 100,000.

The CAF also reviewed disciplinary matters involving the Moroccan federation, holding them responsible for actions related to a ball boy, with a fine reduced from 100,000 to 50,000. The appeal regarding a laser incident was upheld, resulting in a 10,000 fine, marking the end of the controversial proceedings surrounding the AFCON final.
