Court Adjourns Abdulaziz Malami's Terrorism Trial

The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the terrorism trial of Abdulaziz Malami, the son of Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami, to March 10, 2024. The adjournment was announced by Judge Joyc Abdulmalik after the AGF's office assumed responsibility for the prosecution, with Rotimi Oyedepo, Director of Public Prosecution, indicating that they had just received the case file and required time to review it.

Abdulaziz Malami was first arraigned on February 3, 2023, facing six terrorism-related charges, including allegedly abetting terrorism financing since November 2022. He is also accused of possessing a Sturm Magnum firearm, 16 live cartridges, and 27 expended cartridges in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, in December 2025 without a license.

He pleaded not guilty, and the court granted him bail of N200 million under conditions that include surrendering travel documents and providing verifiable property as surety. Additionally, his wife, Asab Bashir, faces 16 counts of money laundering involving the alleged concealment of N8.7 billion from 2015 to 2025.
