Court Adjourns Malami Son's Terrorism Financing Trial

The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the trial of Abdulaziz Malami, son of former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, on charges of terrorism financing and illegal possession of firearms. The trial is now scheduled for April 15-16, following a request from the prosecution, represented by Akinlolu Kehind, for additional time to consult with their instructing counsel.

Justice Joyc Abdulmalik granted the adjournment request, which was not opposed by the defense counsel, Shuaibu Arua. Abdulaziz Malami faces five counts, including allegations of terrorism financing and unlawful possession of a Sturm Magnum 17 firearm, along with live cartridges.

The Department of State Services (DSS) had previously transferred the case file to the Office of the Attorney General for prosecution. The charges stem from accusations that Malami failed to prosecute individuals suspected of financing terrorist activities during his father's tenure as Attorney General.
