Court Dismisses Aiyedatiwa's Appeal on Eligibility Suit

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has dismissed the appeal filed by Governor Aiyedatiwa concerning a governorship eligibility suit. The appeal challenged a ruling from the Federal High Court in Akure, which allowed Akindel Egbuwalo to amend his original summons regarding Aiyedatiwa's eligibility for the upcoming governorship election in Ondo State.

The three-member panel, led by Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam, unanimously ruled that the lower court had properly exercised its discretion and that Aiyedatiwa failed to demonstrate that the trial judge's decision caused injustice or denied him a fair hearing. Consequently, the appeal was dismissed for lack of merit, and the court awarded costs of 2 million naira against Aiyedatiwa.

Additionally, the court upheld a previous order issued on January 27, 2026, and advised Aiyedatiwa to seek remedy from the Supreme Court of Nigeria if he wishes to challenge the appellate court's ruling.
