Court Halts PDP's National Convention in Ibadan Over Legal Violations

The Federal High Court in Abuja has stopped the People's Democratic Party (PDP) from holding its national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, next month. Justice James Omotosho issued the order, citing the PDP's failure to comply with legal requirements, including conducting congresses in several states.

The court ruled that the notice issued by the party's national chairman without the co-signature of the national secretary was invalid. The PDP was instructed to correct irregularities before proceeding with the convention, with the court restraining INEC from recognizing any outcomes until full compliance.
