Rivers Court Suspends Hearing in Governor's Impeachment Suit

The Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has indefinitely adjourned a suit filed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Prof. Ngozi Odu challenging the impeachment process against Speaker Martin Amaehwul and 26 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The court had initially restrained the Speaker and lawmakers from sending impeachment documents to the Chief Judge, but later adjourned the case to January 23, 2026. Legal counsels representing the parties made oral applications in court, leading to the adjournment sine die pending the determination of appeals.
