APC Senator Critiques Tinubu Over Loans and Contractors

During a closed-door Senate session, APC Senator Kawu Sumaila raised concerns regarding President Bola Tinubu's handling of loans and unpaid contractors, which he claimed had resulted in abandoned projects across the country. Sumaila questioned why contractors had left project sites due to lack of payment, despite the National Assembly approving significant loan requests from President Tinubu.

He warned that failure to fund these projects could severely impact lawmakers' re-election campaigns in 2027. His comments reportedly angered Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, who accused Sumaila of betraying the party after his recent defection to APC.

Akpabio and Bamidele highlighted an alleged backroom deal involving a N90 billion ecological contract in Kano, which was said to be facilitated by President Tinubu. Sumaila, however, refused to back down, asserting that the Senate leadership could not silence him or blackmail him regarding his criticisms.
