Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, the mother of Malam Nasir El-Rufai, who is a former governor of Kaduna State, has died. The announcement was made by her grandson, Hon Bello El-Rufai, on Friday afternoon via Facebook, where he expressed his condolences with the phrase "inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un," which translates to "Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we will return." He highlighted the great life she lived and described her as a gentle soul.

The news comes amidst ongoing legal issues involving Malam Nasir El-Rufai, who is currently facing allegations of corruption and money laundering, with a case pending before the Federal High Court in Kaduna. The court has adjourned the bail hearing to March 31.
