Peter Obi Condoles Nasir El-Rufai on Mother's Death

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi extended his condolences to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai after the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt, while receiving treatment. Obi described the loss as a significant chapter in the matriarch's lineage and expressed his deepest sympathies to El-Rufai and his entire family, wishing for her soul to rest in Aljannatul Firdau.

Hajiya Umma El-Rufai was reported to be 100 years old at the time of her death. Following her passing, El-Rufai was granted temporary bail to perform the funeral rites.

His son, Bashir El-Rufai, confirmed his father's release, while grandson Bello El-Rufai expressed gratitude for her life and called for prayers for her soul. Notable Nigerians, including President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, also paid tribute to the late matriarch, whose death occurred a week after that of her daughter-in-law, Safiya Ali El-Rufai.
