Opposition Leaders Adopt ADC to Challenge Tinubu in 2027 Elections

Top opposition leaders in Nigeria, such as El-Rufai and Peter Obi, have come together to adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a new political platform to challenge the ruling party in the 2027 general elections. The emergence of this coalition was announced after a high-level meeting that included prominent figures like David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Amaechi, and Abubakar Malami.

The coalition aims to unify opposition forces across party lines to present a strong candidate in 2027. El-Rufai, who previously endorsed the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has distanced himself from the party following the defection of its 2023 presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo.
