Prof. Attahiru Jega's Wife Hajiya Hadiza Passes Away

Prof. Attahiru Jega, the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has experienced the loss of his wife, Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega.

The family confirmed this sad development in a statement released on Sunday, April 5, 2026. The janaiza prayer is set to take place at 1:30 PM during the Zuhr prayer at the National Mosque in Abuja.

Prof. Jega is recognized for his significant contributions to electoral reform and livestock development initiatives across Nigeria.

He has served as co-chairman of the Presidential Livestock Reform Implementation Committee (PLRIC) and as a special adviser on livestock development. Additionally, he holds the position of pro-chancellor at Nassarawa State University and Usman Danfodio University.

The family has requested prayers for the deceased during this difficult time, hoping her soul rests in Aljannah Fridausi.
