FG Files Terrorism Charges Against Three in Oyo Abduction

The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated legal proceedings against three suspects—Abdulrazak Umar, Yunusa Musa, and Shamsu Adamu Sani—accused of involvement in the abduction of schoolchildren and a teacher in Orir Local Government Area, Oyo State. They were arraigned in the Federal High Court in Abuja on ten counts, including terrorism, kidnapping, and conspiracy.

The prosecution alleges that the defendants, who are linked to the terrorist group Ansaru, planned the abduction between January and May 2026. They are also accused of withholding information about the alleged mastermind of the operation.

Additionally, Umar is charged with providing training to members of a terrorist group via a WhatsApp platform named "Allah Foundat Peac" and engaging in illegal gold mining in Suleja. The suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty under Nigerian law, and the prosecution is expected to present evidence to support the charges.
