FG Files Treason Charges Against Alleged Coup Plotters

The Federal Government of Nigeria has filed 13 counts of treason and terrorism against several alleged coup plotters, including retired Major General Moham Ibrahim Gana, retired Captain Nn Erasmus Ochegobia Victor, and Inspector Ahm Ibrahim Zekeri, among others. The arraignment is scheduled for April 22 at the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik.

The charges, signed by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Rotimi Oyedepo SAN, include conspiracy to undermine the Nigerian state and failure to disclose security intelligence related to a planned coup. The defendants are accused of participating in meetings linked to terrorist activities and providing support to terrorism.

Additionally, they face allegations of money laundering, with specific amounts mentioned, including N50,000,000 and N2,000,000, linked to unlawful activities associated with terrorist financing. The prosecution claims the defendants formed a coordinated network threatening national security.
