FG Files Charges Against Six Alleged Coup Plotters

The Federal Government of Nigeria has filed a 13-count charge against six individuals, including two retired senior military officers, Major General Moham Gana and Captain Erasmus Victor, as well as Inspector Ahm Ibrahim, Zekeri Umoru, Bukar Goni, and Abdulkadir Sani. The charges were filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja and include allegations of treason, terrorism, failure to disclose security intelligence, and money laundering linked to terrorist financing.

The arraignment is scheduled for April 22. The charges, signed by Rotimi Oyedepo, the Director of Public Prosecutions, accuse the defendants of conspiring to wage a war against the state and of failing to alert authorities about their plans.

The prosecution claims that the defendants provided support for terrorism and handled funds linked to terrorist financing, with specific amounts mentioned, including N50,000,000 and N2,000,000. The case is part of the government's efforts to address threats to national security.
