Obasanjo's Daughter, Professor Iyabo, Defects to APC in Ogun State Ahead of 2027 Elections

Professor Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, has officially joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 elections. Her membership was confirmed through the party's online registration portal in Ibogun Ward 11, Ifo Local Government Area.

This move was acknowledged by close associates, including Biodun Ajayi, a current commissioner at the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). The APC leadership in Ogun State has maintained a cautious stance regarding the defection, with the party's director of public affairs, Mr.

Femi Nuberu, emphasizing inclusivity within the party. Professor Iyabo Obasanjo, who currently teaches public health in the United States, has a long history of service in Ogun State government and the Senate.

Her return to the ruling party has sparked talks of a potential run for the Ogun Central senatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
