Obasanjo's Daughter Rules Out Senate Return, Eyes Ogun Governor Seat

Iyabo Obasanjo, a former Senator representing Ogun Central and daughter of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, has announced that she will not be returning to the Senate but is considering a possible bid for the Ogun State governorship. She confirmed her active involvement in partisan politics after recently joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obasanjo participated in the APC's registration exercise and formalized her membership with the party. Biodun Ajayi, a former chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, also completed his online registration with the APC.

Obasanjo, who previously served as the Ogun State Commissioner for Health and was elected as a Senator from 2007 to 2011, has been away from frontline politics for 15 years. She relocated to the United States to pursue an academic career but has now expressed her seriousness and dedication to re-entering politics, particularly aiming for the governorship of Ogun State.
