Iyabo Obasanjo Confirms APC Membership as Her "Natural Home" Ahead of 2023 Elections

Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, has confirmed her membership in the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that it is her natural political home. In an interview with Nigerian sports legend Segun Odegbami, she revealed her return to active politics after a 15-year hiatus.

Iyabo, a former senator who represented Ogun Central Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011, expressed her intention to participate in the upcoming 2023 general elections in Ogun State. She highlighted her decision to join the APC after wide consultations, emphasizing her comfort within the party.

Iyabo hinted at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as an alternative but ultimately chose the APC due to her confidence and comfort with the party. She previously lost a re-election bid in 2011 under the ACN but did not return to the PDP.

Iyabo's decision to join the APC comes amidst ongoing party registration exercises in Ogun State.
