Hayatu-Deen Withdraws from ADC Presidential Primary

Mohammed Hayatu-Deen has officially withdrawn from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary process for the 2027 general elections. In a statement released on Tuesday, he cited widespread vote rigging and irregularities across various parts of the country, raising serious concerns about the credibility of the electoral exercise.

Hayatu-Deen expressed that he would not attend the announcement of the ADC presidential election results, which were scheduled for today, due to these concerns. Initially, he had maintained that the primary process was transparent and democratic.

His withdrawal comes amid a keenly contested race for the ADC ticket, which includes former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi. The situation is expected to heighten tensions within the opposition party as the results are declared, with Atiku reportedly leading the race by winning at least five states at the time of this report.
