INEC Schedules Presidential Elections for January 2027

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially set January 16, 2027, as the date for the Presidential and National Assembly elections. This decision was communicated by INEC Chairman Mohan Haruna during a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja.

Initially, these elections were scheduled for February 20, 2027. Additionally, the governorship and state house assembly elections are confirmed to occur on March 6, 2027.

Haruna's announcement is part of the commission's adherence to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022. Further details regarding the governorship and state house assembly elections will be provided later.
