Akpabio Confident Insecurity Will End After 2027 Elections

On Tuesday, during the inauguration of the Nigerian Revenue Service (NRS) headquarters in Abuja, Senate President Godswill Akpabio stated that he is confident that the issue of insecurity in Nigeria will improve following the 2027 elections. He attributed the current rise in insecurity to political actors who are unsettled by the approaching elections, suggesting that they resort to sponsoring violence.

Akpabio urged Nigerians to remain patient with the Tinubu administration, asserting that the government is on the right track. He also took a swipe at the opposition, particularly the Labour Party, criticizing their disorganization and abandonment of electoral support.

The event was attended by several top government officials, including Vice President and members of the Federal Executive Council. The NRS headquarters features state-of-the-art facilities designed to accommodate 3,000 staff and was established following the Nigerian Revenue Service Establishment Act signed by President Bola Tinubu in June 2025.
