Kano Deputy Governor Abdussalam Resigns Amid Impeachment

Abdussalam, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, resigned from his position amid an impeachment plot initiated by the Kano State House of Assembly. This development was disclosed in a statement by Dr. Habibu Sale, spokesperson for the Kwankwasiyya Movement, on Friday.

Abdussalam's resignation comes as the House began impeachment proceedings against him, which were fueled by intense political tension within the state's leadership. He had previously approached the Federal High Court in Kano to halt the impeachment process; however, the court declined his application on Wednesday, allowing the Assembly to continue its actions.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement stated that Abdussalam's decision to resign was made in consideration of the political situation and aimed at preserving peace in Kano State. The movement emphasized that his resignation should not be interpreted as an admission of guilt regarding the allegations raised against him.

Abdussalam plans to dedicate his time to political activities within the Kwankwasiyya Movement in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
