Kano Deputy Governor Resigns Amid Impeachment Threat

Abdussalam, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, tendered his resignation amid an impeachment plot initiated by the Kano State House of Assembly. This decision was announced through a statement by Dr.

Habibu Sale, spokesperson for the Kwankwasiyya Movement. The Federal High Court in Kano had previously declined an application from Abdussalam seeking to halt the impeachment process.

In his resignation statement, Abdussalam expressed that the decision, though difficult, was made in the overall interest of the people and to stabilize governance in the state. He emphasized that his resignation does not imply admission of any allegations raised against him by the state assembly and reaffirmed his belief in the integrity of his public service record.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement clarified that Abdussalam's focus would now be on strengthening the movement ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging residents of Kano State to remain calm and committed to good governance and democracy.
