Kwankwaso to Join Obi as Running Mate for 2027 Election

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, has agreed to serve as the running mate for Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. This disclosure was made by Ibrahim Abdulkarim during a television interview on Trust TV.

Abdulkarim emphasized that both political figures have reached an understanding and are committed to supporting each other. The alliance between Obi's movement and the Kwankwassiyya movement is expected to gain significant traction, particularly in the northern region, as Kwankwaso commands a solid political base.

This development follows Kwankwaso's recent political maneuver of leaving the New Nigeria Peoples Party to join the African Democratic Congress, which has sparked discussions about potential negotiations ahead of the next general elections. Although there has been no official joint statement from Obi and Kwankwaso, consultations among party stakeholders are ongoing, and the formation of this alliance could become one of the largest political coalitions leading into the 2027 elections.
