Obi and Kwankwaso Seek PRP Presidential Ticket for 2027

Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), and Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, have expressed interest in obtaining the presidential ticket of the People's Redemption Party (PRP) for the upcoming 2027 general elections. Baba Ahmad, the PRP chairman, indicated that while the party acknowledges the political influence of both Obi and Kwankwaso, they must first formally join the PRP and follow internal procedures to seek electoral positions.

Reports suggest that the two politicians have approached the PRP for potential collaboration, but they have broken down discussions over conditions for joining the party. Habeeb Saleh, spokesperson for the Kwankwasiyya movement, dismissed claims made by Baba Ahmad, asserting that the PRP chairman is seeking attention and that there has been no formal meeting regarding the demands made by Obi and Kwankwaso.
