Nigerian Military Arrests Officers in Alleged Coup Plot Against Tinubu Government

The Nigerian military has officially acknowledged the arrest of sixteen military officers suspected of plotting a coup against the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The officers were taken into custody in October 2025, with the investigation concluding on January 26, 2026.

Major General Samaila Uba, the Director of Defence Information, announced the completion of the probe and stated that the officers will face trial before the military judiciary.
