Nigerian Military Confirms Arrest of Officers Linked to Alleged Coup Plot

The Nigerian Military announced the arrest of 16 officers suspected of involvement in a coup plot to overthrow the government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Major General Samaila Uba, the Director of Defence Information, revealed that the officers were found with substantial evidence of indiscipline and will face trial before a military judicial panel.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) emphasized the adherence to service regulations and the commitment to upholding professional standards. The investigation into the coup plot aimed to maintain discipline and operational readiness within the military ranks.

Brigadier General Tukur Gusau clarified that the ongoing investigation was part of routine internal processes to ensure discipline and professionalism. The military denied the coup allegations initially but later confirmed the officers' involvement in the plot.
