Nigeria Police Force Appoints New Spokesperson After 3 Months

The Nigeria Police Force has announced the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Iniedu Okokon as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), replacing Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Placid, who held the position for only three months. Placid's appointment came shortly after Olatunji Disu assumed office as the Inspector General of Police.

The sudden leadership change has raised questions within security circles, particularly due to the brief duration of Placid's tenure. At the time of this announcement, police authorities had not provided detailed explanations for the change.

Placid confirmed his replacement but did not elaborate on the decision. Sources familiar with the developments indicated that Placid is expected to be redeployed to the Lagos State Command, specifically to the Finance and Administration Unit.

This reshuffle occurs amid ongoing internal restructuring within the police hierarchy, following the reported death of DCP Khan Salihu, which created a vacancy in the police communication structure. Okokon is expected to assume office immediately and will oversee the police's public communication and media relations.
